Ranmale, a folk performance that narrates the story of Ramleela in Konkani with the alternate contemporary scene was always performed by men in the villages of Sattari. Few enthusiastic women took lead to perform this on a competitive stage with a group of 10-12 women as young as 60 years old. This trail is very close to our hearts to see these young 60-year-old ladies perform flawlessly. It is mesmerising to see a shy village lady forget the existence of the world as she dresses up and performs as characters like Hanuman or Shurpanakha.
This women’s day let us promote attempts of these women who wish to take lead. This is our 4th trail with them and always loved by all those who attend.
